my octopus teacher

Craig Foster is from South  Africa.

It was hard to start going into the water.  The water temperature was 8 or 9 degrees. He had  no wetsuit. 3 dimensional forest. The kelp forest was satisfying. He observed the octopus. The kelp forest was a misty forest. The pyjama sharks are predators to octopus. The octopus can change their colour to their background.   they can fit into tight places. this man who filmed this interesting documentary is craig foster. This incredible creature has 2000 suckers. They eat Koura (crayfish). Octopus play with fish.  Then she mated with  a male and then she  had eggs and then when the eggs hatched she died. Then she got eaten by a pyjama shark and fish.  Then Craig Foster  sees a baby octopus and he remembers her.

This is our rotational symmetry

 WAL what rotational symmetry is.

We created colourful  shapes that were rotated 4 times.

A shape has rotational symmetry when it can be rotated and it still looks the same. The order of rotational symmetry of a shape is the number of times it can be rotated around a full circle and still look the same.

We made a hungry hen out of plates, feathers, coloured paper, a stapler, glue and felts.

Liam said it was fun to make the hen.  Eli said it was excellent, Luke wanted to know how to cut out the comb, it was really hard.  Bayden thought it was great.

my speech

People all over the world understand that pets are really important.  Hi My name is Eli and I am going to be talking to you about pets and why they are an important part of my family.

Firstly pets teach us responsibility. To look after a pet They need good food and clean water. They need Exercise and you need to teach them tricks. I have a dog  called jag I teach her tricks like to sit and lie down.

Do you have a pet?  They catch pests. For example cats catch mice, rats. Dogs catch bunnies and possums.  This is good because pests eat our wild life and hurt our trees.

They clean up after you. For example if you drop food on the floor they will eat it up. And dogs will eat it off your plates. Ewwww gross don’t let them do that. And they are good cops because if you are searching for food they will bark.

While you are asleep, they might come and snuggle up with you. Some pets might lie on your lap & have a nap while you watch tv or do your homework.

Did you know dogs can help with disabilities? Guide dogs help with blind people and some dogs are trained to tell you if you are going to have a seizure.

Then why can’t pets come in schools? Because they  can get hurt and who will pay the vets and who will  feed it and who will take it for a walk.

Then they are cute and cuddly. They are fun to play with. They are silly because when they sneeze is funny. They can go crazy. When we take them for a walk they can go fast. I love pets.

Then I am going to get two more pets - that are kittens. Do you have a kitten?

Goodness in Totara

Once at school our teacher baked some scones for our class. It smelt great. The cream was yum.I feel happy. It tasted like Heaven.

Edmonds Scone recipe

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

  1. Preheat the oven to 220ºC. Grease or flour a baking tray.

  2. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Rub in the butter with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs.

  3. Add the milk and quickly mix with a round-bladed table knife to a soft dough. For light and tender scones the mixture should be quite soft and a little sticky. Scrape the dough onto the floured baking tray and flour the top.

  4. Working quickly, pat the dough out to 2cm thickness and with a floured knife cut it into 12 even-sized pieces, then separate the scones to allow 2cm space between them. Brush the tops with milk.

  5. Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Place on a wire rack to cool, wrapped in a clean tea towel to keep them soft.
